...REVISITED, REVAMPED, REDONE: OUT OF STYLE...

This was another one of those layouts I wasn't mad to revisit. There was something about the original that never quite sat right with me.

ORIGINAL

Revisiting this layout gave it new life. I kept the majority of it the same, making minor tweaks here and there. I changed the way the ribbons and lace were arranged, changed out some of the papers and made font and alpha changes. Also, the original layout had some of the lyrics wrong - so I made sure to fix that while I was at it.

...REVISITED, REVAMPED, REDONE: BEAUTIFUL GIRLS...

If there's some cosmic lesson I'm supposed to be learning from redoing all of these layouts, I don't know if I'm learning it. I also don't want to think about all the hours spent creating these layouts just to turn around and redo them. My computer programmer husband has tried and tried to teach me about saving my work and to save it in multiple places, but until the crash I only half listened. And maybe that's the lesson the cosmos wants to reiterate to me.

I had so much fun creating this layout initially. The color palette was beautiful and the Italian name it carried just added to it.

ORIGINAL

I didn't want to change much with this layout, as I felt pretty good about the original. The changes made are fairly subtle. I gave the photo mats a patterned background, added a few different elements and arranged the leaves just a little bit. And once again, we find that I changed the journaling font.

...REVISITED, REVAMPED, REDONE: SWEET BOY...

It's always a little bittersweet to look back at old pictures, and scrapping them can kind of be a little bit sad sometimes. When I originally created this layout, my sweet boy was on the cusp of 18. Now? Now he'll be 22. I never believed it when people told me time flies, but I believe it now.

This layout took me a little bit longer than it normally takes me to scrap something. I don't remember the reasons now, but I think it's cause I just wanted to get the right kind of feeling to come across the page.

ORIGINAL

When I revisited this layout, I really went to town and revamped the whole thing. As I was gathering the photos to redo this layout, I noticed there was a third picture that should be included. Therefore, the original template wasn't going to cut it. I tried to keep the same colors going and make use of the same elements. Though I do think I like the revisited version best, I do miss not having that blue ribbon anywhere in it.

This layout was one that I probably shed some tears over losing. It was a layout that turned out almost as good as I had hoped and I just loved the end product. Knowing I had lost this layout really was one I had emotions about. I might be a bit of a crazy person.

ORIGINAL

Because I was happy with the original layout, I didn't change much in the revisit.

I did change the ribbons a bit and added a brown flower instead of white, but I didn't change much else. It's still one of my most favorite layouts I've ever created.

This was another time I got sad when I realized a layout got dumped and lost due to the delicate nature of hard drives. I really am glad that these layouts were saved in a smaller form, so that they weren't a complete loss from technology and memory, both.

ORIGINAL

I didn't change much with this layout. The only change I can see, is that I brought in more color on the journaling mat with the revisit. I think it helps bring it all together and gets us slightly away from all the pink.

If I'm honest with myself (and you), I never really liked how this layout ended up. I'm not a big fan of the white space templates (even though I can admire the design) as I really love photos. So having small photos just isn't my thing.

For some reason, though, I really wanted to work with this template when it was released. I thought I could do something amazing with it and, well, I didn't. Hahaha.

So, while I could have just scrapped this layout altogether, I decided to stick with it and see if I could improve it the second time around. And I may still end up doing something different with these photos.

ORIGINAL

When I redid this layout, I realized I shouldn't have used red paper on red paper, it just all blends together. So, I swapped out the red patterned background for black. There seemed to be a weird sizing thing happening with the 1st layout that was corrected in the 2nd. I tried to make it a little more fun by making some elements a little bigger. And, as I always seem to do - I changed the journaling font.

It's not always a bad thing to revisit and redo some of these layouts. There are a few that I was never fully "in love" with when I completed them the first time, but because, I was working with some sort of deadline, I had to let them be. This is one such layout I was happy to revisit.

ORIGINAL

The biggest issue I think we can all agree on, is that the journaling is difficult to read. Partly because the version shown is only the 600 px. version, but even at 100% it was difficult to read.

I swapped mat colors, and I think, it helps the photos pop a bit better. I took out the colored bannered ribbons and opted to keep them the same colors. Finally, I changed the font used for both the title and journaling.

...REVISITED, REVAMPED, REDONE: FAMILY IS LOVE...

Once again, a layout from our Fall 2019 Family Photo Shoot was the victim of a cruel death.

At this point, I'm wondering why I created any of these layouts at all. HAHAHA!

ORIGINAL

To be honest, I'm kinda glad I got to rework this layout. I never really loved the 'love' ribbons, nor the way I shadowed the word 'love'. Sometimes working without a deadline is better for my creativity. I think the revisited layout stands out a little better as well.

Another one of our 2019 Fall family photos layouts was lost to the hard drive crash of 2020.

This one was a sad one to lose. I really liked the first layout and the different things I did with it.

ORIGINAL

When I redid this layout, I changed some of the papers surrounding the photo. I also changed up a few of the embellishments. I used a different alphabet for the title as I thought the original alpha used didn't really fit the vibe of the layout. I also fixed the sizing and position of the photo. Finally, I made the quote a little bit larger.

The resident artist of the family had created a wonderful chalk-art masterpiece that I then created a page for, and then it decided it needed to join the throngs of things to be forever lost in the crash. So sad.

But, as is the case in most of my revisits, I found at least one thing that I wanted to change.

ORIGINAL

I didn't really change much with this revisit. I made the netting behind the title a little bit darker and changed the journaling font as I decided it was a bit of a rough font choice for journaling.

The photos in this layout are so very important to me and I was sad to see that this particular layout was one that had to be redone. The original really wasn't that bad, but I can never leave well enough alone.

ORIGINAL

I really didn't want to change a whole lot with this layout. But I did find a few little element tweaks that I decided to make. I also changed the font in the title. Probably because I didn't have the original anymore as I also lost a lot of fonts when my hard drive took its nosedive.

This layout was a fun one to revisit for more than just the chance to get this layout back. I was able to look back at a photo from a high school dance and to read the notes I kept on it. Looking back at the photo today, I remember how uncomfortable my husband was having to stand in-between that bench and me, but he dealt with it well and smiled for the camera. You can read more about the original layout in this post.

ORIGINAL

In the revisited version, I swapped out a few elements, changed the way I had the mats originally arranged and changed one of the main focal papers. I also made some clarification in my journaling.

A revisit to this layout was a bit of a trip. I created the original layout way back in 2017. It's crazy to look back at some of these pictures and see how much my kids have actually grown in the past few years. Living with them and seeing them daily, I don't think we always see the growth as it's happening.

The funny thing about this layout is that it was actually uploaded at a 12x12 size, but it was saved with all of the edited details, instead of the full version. So I really only had to recreate this layout to add the name of the school and add last names to her friends. Crazy.

ORIGINAL

Because the original version only had the edited names, the revisited version is mostly the same. The only thing I really did was move some of the elements around.

...REVISITED, REVAMPED, REDONE: COUSINS...

When our kids were younger, my little sister and I used to take them to do things on a fairly regular basis. That's been harder and harder to do as our kids grow up and start having lives of their own. But it's always fun to look back at the times spent with cousins.

ORIGINAL

When I decided to redo this layout, I took the opportunity to change a few things I didn't necessarily love about the original. I swapped out some elements, used darker things in a few places as well. I didn't have access to the original fonts used, so I changed those. I also gave more clarification into who was sitting where. I also removed the dividers from the original and just used a simple embellishment instead. The alpha used was also changed, although looking at it now, I'm not quite sure why I did that...

I was really happy with the first version of this layout. I had been working on scrapping all of our family photos and loved that I was able to find kits with blues in them. Something about the kit I used for this layout just spoke to me and I knew it needed to be used with my oldest pictures. You can read more about this layout in the original post.

Sadly, this was one layout I had uploaded to my photo storage site, but only the 600 px. version as I'd be uploading it to other galleries from there.

ORIGINAL

When I revisited this layout I kept most of it the same, but made a few alterations. I made the quote a little larger, added string to the ribbon, changed the size of the elements and changed the mat behind one of the photos to add a little more depth than there originally was.
