...SCOOBY.DOOBY.DOO...

Somewhere along the path of parenthood we had a child become obsessed with Scooby-Doo and I can't even remember the where, why, or when it all happened, but it happened. So, we, of course, saw ALL the movies they made in the 2000's. And all I can think of since I created the layouts I'm about to share is this:

(Starts at 2:20)

In an effort to expand my shopping options for scrapbook kits, I once came across Sweet Shoppe Designs. I didn't browse too closely that first time and I hadn't made it a habit to check the store out when I was looking for scrap kits, but a short time ago, I found my way back to their site and loaded with some extra birthday money, I went on a shopping spree. One such collection I came across was centered all around Scooby-Doo, and I knew I had a use for it and I needed it in my collection.

My first layout centers on our Scooby-obsessed kid, Tanis. It only made sense that he'd want to dress up as Scooby-Doo at least once for Halloween. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that he didn't request a Scooby costume more than once. It's always a little bittersweet to scrap old photos, but here we are and at least I'm getting the past scrapped here and there. Here's a little Tanis, dressed as Scooby.

I had another use for this collection and I was excited to see that though I used the same collection for two different layouts, they're not super similar.

Eric and I had the chance to go to Universal Studios last year and I was impressed with how many characters they have wandering about. We got lucky and saw Scooby. I knew we needed to get a picture, mostly so we could share it with Tanis, but I also had some mom guilt about it. All I could think about was how awesome it would have been for Tanis to be there with us. He really would have loved the whole experience.

...ZOO DAY...

The final collection I worked with for the new month at Gingerscraps, was the Free With Purchase kit: Warm Wishes. And what better way to welcome a new year than with some warm wishes...eh, I tried.

Once again it was the elements that drew me in. There were so many elements about the animals that like the cold weather, and it got me thinking about the year we went to the zoo for Zach's birthday, at the start of February, in Utah. It was actually kind of a fun day and you can check out the one layout I already made about this day, here.

Because I had previously scrapped about the boy of the day, I tried to make this page all about those of us who were also at the zoo with the birthday boy. One day I may actually scrap the animal photos I took, maybe.

...ZACH'S ANTICS...

The Gingerscraps' Challenge Reward for January 2024 is called: 12 New Chapters. It's a new year, time to write a new story. I fell in love with this kit for so many reasons. I love the color palette, I love the reference to each month being a new chapter, and some of the fun elements as well.

My original plan for this collection wasn't going to quite pan out with the included templates, so I will have to create that layout shortly. The templates included were for 1 or 2 photos so I had to do some thinking with my thinker, but eventually decided on a route to go.

My baby boy is a nut. He does these random, funny things almost daily, so I decided to scrap a little bit about his crazy fun adventures. I took one photo from January and one from December and though I was just scrapping about his wild side, it also shows some growth. Growth, which kind of makes me a little bit sad.

...SNOWBOYS...

It's the start of another month, which means there are a few new kits created by The Gingerbread Ladies at Gingerscraps ready and waiting to be paired with your photos. The first collection I decided to work with was: Freezin' Season, and I won't lie, part of what drew me in was the cute little penguin elements.

When I saw the cute little penguin building a snowman I knew which set of photos I wanted to work with. Fairly recently kiddo #4 and kiddo #7 decided to work together to build a snowman with what little snow we had received. Part of what made this experience so exciting for me, as a mom, was watching two kiddos who only occasionally hang out and do something together of their own free will.

There may not have been enough snow to actually make a large snowman, but the little guy they did manage to put together was still cute and it got these two out of the house for a bit of time.

...NEW COAT...

It's buffet time once again at Gingerscraps. I love buffets, there's always so much to play with. However, because this round of buffet offerings came right after Christmas, I didn't have time to play with much. In fact, I HAD to find time to do at least one and I settled on Aimee Harrison's Snow Magical.

I wasn't exactly sure what pictures to pair with this kit, but when I saw the sweater element, I had my answer. I remembered back a few years ago, during a Thanksgiving weekend spent with my mother-in-law. Though it hadn't snowed anytime up to that point, that weekend we got dumped on and Shaylyn had shown up to Grandma's in nothing more than a hoodie. That was not going to stand in Grandma's world. Grandma had recently purchased a coat for herself at Costco that she just loved, so she took Shaylyn with her and Eric for a quick run to see if Shaylyn would find something she liked as well.

When they arrived back at Grandma's house, Shaylyn had a new, purple coat with her. It was definitely a moment worth remembering and a moment worth photographing.
