...HAPPY BOYS...

It was, once again, long overdue...a layout featuring one of the fur-based members of this household. Though I take pictures of the animals occasionally, I don't always feel like scrapping pages about them. The humans are much more fun.

This template came about and my first thought was that it was a paw print, so I then looked to find a kit to use with it from the same designer. Thankfully it all worked out well and this page came together rather quickly.

Now, if I could just convince this little boy of mine to give the poor dog some space...

...TOY SOLDIER...

Confession time!

I've never actually seen the true Nutcracker ballet. I've never read the story. I've never had a real interest in it at all, which is odd because, for a short time, I was obsessed with ballet, though I'd never actually seen one or been a dancer. But then one year, my daughter's dance school did a whole recital based on The Nutcracker

My daughter was super excited about the chance to be part of the Mouse Army, however, she missed class the day parts were assigned, and/or because she was taller (it was too many years ago to remember exactly), she ended up as one of the soldiers. She wasn't happy about this, and we had to hear about it anytime the dance was discussed. I think, in some ways, she is still bitter about it today.

When I saw the kit: A Nutcracker Christmas, I thought back to this dance recital and went about making this page. I had to search actual photo albums for the photos as this took place before digital started taking over my life. It was fun to go back and look at these pictures and remember this time.

...PIE...

Gingerscraps Monthly Mix for November of 2022 is titled: Let The Stuffing Begin. And it's as fun and as full as the name suggests. I really fell in love with this collection, and there are so many fun elements to play around with that it would have been hard to settle on a way to go with this collection, but there was one element (and paper) that really stood out to me. That paper and element centered around one thing: pumpkin pie.

Now, generally speaking, I don't love pie. It's alright and I can eat a cherry pie or apple pie if offered a piece. If I ever have to pick a 'favorite' I always say banana cream. However, I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin pie...or pumpkin spice, for that matter. But, my husband and a few of my kids love their pumpkin pie. And it just so happens that on Thanksgiving of 2021, my mother-in-law got some great pics of my baby boy thoroughly enjoying his pumpkin pie.

...REST...

Life isn't always easy, full of rainbows and sunshine. We found that out the hard way in the Fall of 2020. Our then-18-year-old daughter was involved in a serious car accident that left her in the hospital and rehab center for almost a full month. It was not an easy time for anyone and it's hard to think about those days.

However, scrapbooking is also about recording our family history in some form. So, sometimes, I need to record difficult situations in my scrapbooking and revisit those feelings. This was the case with this next layout.

While I could have done a few different things with this release, my thoughts kept returning to a particular photo of me in the hospital on one of those first days. I felt it was important to record a few of my thoughts along with the photo, this layout is the result.
