...CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITION...

Christmas Eve was a big deal for me growing up. It was almost more exciting than Christmas Day. For years before I was even born, my maternal grandparents had a get-together and program every year. There was always just something about it that was so fun and exciting. I'm not even sure what the magic was that gave us that feeling every year, but it's something I miss and Christmas Eve just doesn't feel the same as it once did.

My maternal grandma passed in 2016 and the Christmas Eve of 2013 would be the last Christmas Eve spent in her home. I want to say that we didn't know it would be the last Christmas Eve at the house, but now as I write this (and after completing my layout), I'm trying to remember if my aunts, uncles, and parents knew. Whatever the case, it was the last Christmas Eve at her home and I'm so glad I thought to take pictures of Grandma with each of my kids. (We didn't get pics of Ailey & Grandma as Ailey was too shy and didn't feel like getting a picture taken).

I had been going through all of my December pictures throughout the years to use as my screensaver, so these pictures are what came to mind when I saw the kit: A Vintage Holiday. A Vintage Holiday is the Gingerscraps' Challenge Reward kit for December of 2024.

...IT'S NOT COLD!!!...

Zach is a winter baby in every sense of the word. He was born during the winter season and he absolutely loves the snow. He's been that way pretty much since day one. I'm really not sure where it comes from as his dad and I would love to escape all things snow.

One day, when Zach was around 2 years old, he just HAD to go outside to shovel some more snow for the dog's potty area. I told him over and over that it was cold and he should put his boots, coat, and gloves on, but he insisted that it WASN'T cold. And, of course, two-year-olds know better than their parents. Shortly after I took the pictures included on this layout, he decided he needed all the winter gear on and then went back outside and he only lasted a short time longer.

I immediately thought of these photos when I saw the Free With Purchase Kit for December 2024 offered at Gingerscraps. I looked back at the pictures hoping that the kit included the right colors for my layout. I was so excited when it did and I went to work.
